A Life of Integrity in a World of Corruption

To support himself, he continued to work as an assistant (Munshi) to a lawyer in the district court of Multan. Remarkably, he remained with the same individual for an extensive period of forty years.

The world of the court is enigmatic, a realm filled with crime, transgressions, and retribution. Encountering murderers, dacoits, robbers, scoundrels, and bribers is almost a daily occurrence. In such an environment, distinguishing between right and wrong, legal and illegal, legitimate and illegitimate, becomes exceedingly difficult. Here, conscience and faith are often compromised and traded. Oppressors are aided, while the oppressed suffer injustice and cruelty.

Despite being immersed in this quagmire for nearly half a century, Munshi Sahib managed to maintain his integrity and purity. The insights, observations, and experiences he gained are meticulously detailed in his distinctive book "Katchery Ki Dunya."

Noted writer Mr. Mukhtar Masood commented on this work:

“Those who knew him were really surprised to see that despite the fact that he remained entangled to this quaglimire for half a century he was able to keep his personality clean clear and transparent. Then again how it was possible that right from this polluted environment he emerged with the message of a purposeful life and went ahead with his holy mission. This is a simple question which was frequently put to Munshi Sahib. However I am neither one of those who are surprised over this nor I have x-rayed his profession with probing eyes.”

In addition to his literary contribution, Munshi Sahib also conducted research on Pakistan's bureaucratic system, culminating in his book "AFSAR SHAHI," which received widespread acclaim across the country.
