A Unique Preparation for the Final Journey

While most people build houses for their worldly lives, Munshi Sahib prepared his final resting place (grave) 16 years before his death, ensuring he would rest in peace. Unlike many who fear the final journey, he always kept himself ready for this moment. He even penned his farewell message, had it printed, and placed in envelopes to be distributed to relatives, friends, and acquaintances after his death.

My Last Regard and Message (Mera Akhri Salam-o-Paigham)

"With the grace of God, after completing my life journey, I am returning to my original abode. My well-wishers may wonder how I managed to achieve so much single-handedly and find contentment in life. The answer lies in the divine guidance from Allah's words in the Quran:

  • 'Undoubtedly your cherisher is every moment gazing at you' (Al-Fajar)

  • 'Although no one can see him, he sees all' (Al-Inaam)

  • 'Whatever work you have been doing, we are always near you' (Al-Younus)

  • 'Wherever you go, I accompany you' (Al-Hadid)

  • 'If I am near you, why are you depressed and dejected? I always respond to the call of every caller' (Al-Baqra)

From that day, I severed ties with all but Allah and devoted myself entirely to Him. This realization brought fulfillment and made it seem as if time expanded to accommodate my desires. Everything I needed came to me without effort, and the world followed me instead of me chasing it.

Details of this journey are documented in my book, KITAB-e-ZINDAGI. As I now embark on my final journey, I bid you farewell with this message:

'Too Khuda Ka Ho Kay Hojaey Khuda Tery Liey'(If you become for God, then God will also be for you)

Please forgive any mistakes, wrongs, or shortcomings of mine. Farewell, O’ gathering of the world; I am going to my true home. Seeking your prayers and regards,Munshi Abdul Rehman Khan."

Final Preparations

A few days before his death, Munshi Sahib brought out his burial cloth from which was bought from Madina Munawara, a rare gift from his spiritual guardian. He had it tailored to his measurements by a shroud maker.

On February 23, 1989, the renowned scholar, researcher, intellectual, historian, and uniquely styled writer passed away, meeting his Creator. His death was deeply mourned by colleagues, prominent Ulemas, scholars, and thousands of followers, students, and disciples.
