Munshi Sahib also made significant contributions to social services. He initiated and completed a housing scheme known as the Writers Colony, aimed at providing affordable housing for low-income writers and poets. Additionally, within the same colony, he generously allocated two kanals of land for a school for the deaf and dumb, which he subsequently oversaw and constructed.
Establishing the Deaf and Dumb School
Dr. Abdul Ghani, Secretary of the Deaf and Dumb Society, noted in his report:
"Our chairman, Deputy Commissioner Malik Karam Dad Khan, recognized the integrity and dedication of Munshi Abdul Rehman. He suggested that the person who donated the land should also construct the school because he would do it economically, honestly, and with devotion. Initially, we were surprised and doubted how such a busy person, deeply involved in his writing, would find time for construction. Contrary to our expectations, Munshi Sahib accepted the request and began work the very next day. It became his daily routine to personally supervise the construction. Thanks to his tireless efforts, the school building was completed and now stands ready for visitors."
This report was read on December 16, 1961, during the inauguration of the Deaf and Dumb School, attended by the then-central Minister Lt. General Wajid Ali Khan.
Fighting Corruption: Bazar-e-Rishwat
Munshi Sahib also addressed the pervasive issue of corruption in society. He authored a groundbreaking book titled Bazar-e-Rishwat (The Bribe Market), which is considered the first and only book of its kind on this topic. His efforts to combat bribery and corruption were recognized when the International Islamic University organized an article writing competition on "The Effects of Bribe and Corruption." Munshi Sahib's article won first place and was subsequently published in 41 countries in their national languages.
